The thoughts of a bald SEO guy

If You Were Tribune, How Would You Monetize These Opportunities?

There are several very high volume search queries that Tribune currently ranks on the first page of Google for . . . If you were Tribune, how would you monetize these opportunities?

I have a few ideas already (some white hat, some black hat, some even grey) but I haven’t been able to get the proper execution on them. Plus, we are losing a lot of these top terms because Tribune can’t seem to figure out a way to gain value from them monetarily so we are passing off most of the page monetization to PerfectMarket for search engine traffic and they don’t (currently) maintain the same link structure on their pages to keep these rankings.

Unless I can figure a way to execute on a monetization strategy for these (and dozens of others) we will continue to focus on monetization of the tail and toss these head terms aside.

Hint: My ideas on monetization all stem around the concept that people are paying MASSIVE amounts of money to advertise via AdWords for these terms (for those that AdWords will let you bid on). I’ll stop there . . .
