This is not an indepth look at Google Instant. I am sure @DannySullivan or others will do that . . . this is just meant to explain what it is for those outside of the SEO industry that are curious.
First off . . . not all of you will be able to see Google Instant yet (sorry).
More or less though if you can gain access to Google Instant, when you start typing not only will you get the Google Suggest feature but you will also get the search results listed below for the defaulted Google Suggest word Google thinks you will complete.
Example for ‘business cards’:
Here’s another example for ‘online poker’:
Personally, I don’t think this is exactly rocket science. Nor do I feel anyone will use this feature any more than they use Google Suggest. Google isn’t really adding much new technology to this other than they can now show the results below the search box as a person pauses. Considering Google’s search results come back within fractions of a second, this isn’t something I find to be too extraordinary.
What is a bit more ANNOYING is that if I hit the back button I get every search query I PAUSED on instead of just the search queries I actually SEARCHED on. Talk about littering my browser history with complete NONSENSE!
That’s gonna super awesomen’t for some brands that will all of a sudden be associated with related searches for crap that has NOTHING to do with their brand.
Sorry . . . not seeing this as too Earth shattering.
